Romford F.C. 1 - 3 Thurrock F.C.
F.A. Trophy 1st Qualifying Round
Attendance - 139
There was a local derby this weekend with Romford hosting
Thurrock in the F.A. Trophy Cup 1st Qualifying Round. The first half
was lively with both teams having good chances to take the lead but the score
remained goalless as the referee blew for half time.
Romford started the second half the better of the two teams
and on 57 minutes took the lead after a goal mouth scramble which resulted in
Ryan Imbert poking the ball in from a couple yards out. The lead only lasted 11
minutes and Thurrock equalised through Matt Turpin heading in from a free kick.
Despite going down to then men, after Mark Onyenma receiving a second yellow,
Thurrock took the lead with 9 minutes to go after another goal mouth scramble
which saw Stimson fire the ball home. Romford pushed on for an equaliser but
had a huge set back when striker Lewis Francis received a straight red card for
an off the ball incident. In the last minute of injury time Leory Griffiths put
the game to bed with a third for Thurrock.
