David East leaves Essex after 30 years of service

Essex Cricket have announced that the long serving David East will be leaving his post as Chief Executive at the end of the year. He first joined the club in 1981 when he signed a pro contract with the club. The former wicket keeper/batsman won 3 county championships with the club in the 1980s and has been the chief executive since 2000.

He has accepted a role as chief executive at the Abu Dhabi Cricket Club but has said ‘It’s a big wrench, I've had all sorts of emotions making this decision.'

Chairman Nigel Hilliard wished him the best of luck in his new role.
